GET INVOLVED

Here is an opportunity to do something that will

Impact Our Community!

Help make a difference

There are many ways to volunteer,

from attending board meetings to writing letters.

Here are ways you can help:

WRITE LETTERS

A good way to get involved with our efforts is to write letters to our local Lafayette Parish officials expressing your outrage at the continuing attacks on our library. The more citizens who let them know that these policies DO NOT reflect our values as citizens, the better. Need a sample letter? Click HERE.

Begin with a letter via email to the Board of Control. Their address is:

 LPLBoard@lafayettepubliclibrary.org

Email the interim Director of the Lafayette Public Library. His name is Danny Gillane. His address is: directorsoffice@lafayettepubliclibrary.org

Email the Mayor-President of Lafayette Parish, Monique Boulet.  Her address is:

MayorPresidentsOffice@LafayetteLA.gov

You can also email the Lafayette Parish Council members, who are responsible for appointing the members of the LPL Board of Control. Their names and email addresses are:

MAKE PHONE CALLS

Don't feel you are limited to writing emails about this issue. Please call and let library administration, as well as our local city-parish government officials, know that the Board of Control is WRONG! Not only do they NOT represent our values as a community, but they have grossly overstepped their authority, are flaunting the Library  Code of Ethics, and are participating in the largest modern assault on Free Speech and Freedom of Information ever known in Lafayette Parish. We will speak up! We will not allow our rights to be taken away! Need a sample script? Click HERE.
